Bioorganic Chemistry I

The Chair of Bioorganic Chemistry belongs to the Faculty of Chemistry and Biochemistry of the Ruhr-Universität Bochum

Rolf Breuckmann (MSc in Engineering) is taking care of the mass-spectroscopic analysis of trisoligonucleotides and DNA tagged peptides as well as of auditing and financial issues in collaboration with Stefanie Wittmann as administrative secretary.

Günter von Kiedrowski (PhD in Chemistry) holds the Chair of Bioorganic Chemistry at Bochum University. He studied chemistry in Münster and Göttingen, was a postdoctoral scholar of Leslie E. Orgel and became Professor of Organic Chemistry in Freiburg before he moved to Bochum in 1996.

Prof. von Kiedrowski and his group initiated the field of chemical self-replicating systems and pioneered the programmable self-assembly of three-dimensionally defined nanoobjects from trisoligos, viz. synthetic three-armed junctions as molecular building.

Within the MATCHIT project, Prof. von Kiedrowski is in charge of WP 1 ‚DNA nano-containers'.

Dmytro Komanovskyi (MSc in Chemistry) receives his degree at Bochum University in June 2010 and will subsequently work as a PhD student for the MATCHIT project.

Wolf-Mathias Pankau (Ph.D. in Chemistry) received his diploma at Dortmund University as a grantholder of the select "Studienstiftung des Deutschen Volkes". He did his PhD at Bochum University and is now assistant professor at the chair of Bioorganic Chemistry. Current projects include gold cluster labeling, synthesis and modification of DNA nano-objects.

Volker Patzke (PhD in Chemistry) received his PhD at the University of Bochum. He was working as a postdoctoral fellow at the PACE project under Prof. John McCaskill. Currently he is an assistant professor at the chair of Bioorganic Chemistry in Bochum.

Michael Wüstefeld (MSc in Chemistry) is responsible for the automatized tris-oligonucleotide synthesis.

Dr.Krishnakumar K.S (PhD in Bioorganic chemistry) has obtained his doctorate on the subject "Synthesis and analysis of puromycin analogues and amphiphilic peptidyl-RNA conjugates" from University Claude Bernard Lyon1, France. He has obtained his master degree from Mahatma Gandhi University, India. He has finished his master project from Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, India. Currently he is working as a postdoctoral fellow on the MATCHIT project under Prof. Gunter von Kiedrowski at Ruhr-Universität Bochum.
